Start time: 10:00
(Estimated finish time: 14:00)
Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
This walk is limited to 20 people including the leader.
Hosted by Stag Walkers as part of the Chilterns Walking Festival, taking place 16th-31st October.
This is a circular hilly walk around the beautiful Hexton and Barton Hills in the northern Chilterns, with their sweeping chalk grasslands. We head across the fields from Hexton towards the village of Barton-le-Clay. After a steep climb up Barton Hills, we will be rewarded by some fantastic views. We will stop for lunch, before heading south, skirting South Beds golf club, and returning to Hexton.
Please bring plenty to drink and a packed lunch. There will be an option to visit the pub after the walk.
Booking your place: This walk has a limited capacity. If you would like to join, you MUST book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group or through the Chilterns Walking Festival website - see Notes for how to book & what to bring. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place. Please DO NOT turn up for a walk without booking, as we will have to turn you away. Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk, or to share if requested with NHS Test and Trace.
Meet in front of the Raven pub, Village Street, Hexton, Hitchin SG5 3JB (park considerately on the street).

Book a place on this walk using the Stag Walkers Meetup group at https://www.meetup.com/StagWalkers/ or via the Chilterns Walking Festival website.
Book your place on Meetup by clicking the ‘Attend’ button when RSVPs are open. If the walk is full, click ‘join waitlist’ and you will be emailed if a place becomes available.
DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
UPDATE YOUR RSVP. We understand ‘life happens’ so if you need to change your RSVP please do this at least 24 hours before the walk and before booking closes to enable someone else to take your place.
DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying a walk when we are limited in the number of spaces.
*TAKE NOTE that if you no-show and/or cancel after the booking closing deadline three times, without extenuating circumstances, we will decline further bookings from you for a period of six weeks.*
Bring snacks and drinks, and optionally a basic first aid kit, hand sanitiser and face covering.
When travelling to and from the walk, follow the latest advice from government and transport operators to keep yourself and others safe.
