Start time: 10:00
Moderate 12.5 miles / 20.1 km
Please meet at Pangbourne Village Hall carpark (free on Sunday) Grid ref SU634764 for a walk on paths, tracks, and lanes around Whitchurch Hill. We leave Pangbourne and cross the river to Whitchuch to pick up the Thames Path heading West. At the end of Hartslock Wood we turn North to find the Chiltern Way and follow this East to the Hardwick Estate and Hawhill Wood. From there we head South toward Mapledurham before turning West to return to Pangbourne. The going varies from good to soft to wet, with some muddy/very muddy stretches in the woodlands. On a scale of 1-10 where 1= no mud and 10 = impassable, these range from 5-8. There are some short, quite steep ascents/descents, so poles are good idea for those that use them. Around 700’ ascent/descent. Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day. The walk is limited to 12 walkers. Please book online using the link below.
