Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
On this walk we celebrate the birth of the group in West Bromwich Town Hall back in 1992. The walk will be led by two of our founder members from those days, Andy and Dorcas, and we also celebrate the memory of another founder member, George Fowler who sadley passed away earlier this year. We will mark this occasion with a scenic walk in the heart of the peak district. A moderate circular walk starting and finishing in the village of Hartington at the north end of Dovedale. The walk follows the River Dove as it tumbles down steep sided Beresford Dale, climbs up to the village of Alstonfield where we break for lunch on the lovely village green ( drinks are available from the nearby George Hotel ). We then descend into the valley, cross the river via stepping stones and then follow Wolfscote Dale back to Hartington with its good choice of cafes and pubs.
Parsons Field car park, Hartington SK17 0BE (pay and display ), 64 miles from West Bromwich.
