Strenuous 11.5 miles / 18.5 km
We walk through the outskirts of Tonbridge and then on through woods, fields and orchards to return to Tonbridge along the Medway. Our route passes two famous Kentish churches where - services permitting - we may be able to see the Chagall stained glass at Tudeley and/or mediaeval wall paintings at Capel. No pub at lunch time - so bring a picnic - but there may be a chance of an afternoon pub stop at Tudeley Hale or tea in one of Tonbridge's many tea-shops after the walk. (Strenuous by virtue of distance not hills.)
Meet on Tonbridge Station forecourt. There is parking (£1.00 all day Sundays) opposite the station in Station Car Parks 1 and 2, entered from Vale Road. NB all station parking is CASHLESS, managed by APCOA. Pay in advance online via Apcoa website, pay via the Apcoa App (car park code 1964) or cross to the station to buy a parking ticket at the machine there. 9.21 train from Orpington arrives 9.41 but check times and engineering works closer to the date!
This is a circular walk
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders. You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
