This walk starts at the highest point in the Cranborne Chase – the Bronze Age barrow at Win Green. We take in spectacular views as we follow the Wessex Ridgeway down past watercress beds in the Nadder valley and on to Ludwell. We then head West along rural footpaths and minor roads into the centre of the ancient town of Shaftesbury where we will stop for a lunch break. Next we drop down the steep, cobbled, Gold Hill famously featured in the 1970s Hovis bread television advert. Heading South then East we pass through farmland to Cann Common and Charlton villages then South East back to Win Green.
Please note that the postcode gets you close but you will need to follow these instructions ...
Meet Point: Win Green/Donhead Hollow car park.
Follow the B3081 up the hill (North) out of Tollard Royal. After approx. 3 miles turn right signed The Dunheads. After a short distance take the track on the right signed By-Way to Win Green.
