Strenuous 12.5 miles / 20.1 km
A walk description; 12.5 miles, total ascent 788feet. The A walk explores the rolling countryside to the South and East of Middleton Cheney. The route sets off south for Nethercote before climbing over ridges and farrows to Overthorpe. Overthorpe is a well-maintained village and has several 17Century properties including a manor House. Joining the Jurassic way at Overthorpe the route goes east then south before it meanders to Farthinghoe via tracks and foot paths. Farthinghoe village is a conservation area where we stop for lunch and visit the pub. After lunch we follow a bridle way which crosses one of the many disused railway lines before climbing to Thenford. Thenford is another attractive village with a church dating back to 13th century. From here the route goes north west to join the Millennium way, before returning via Middleton Cheney church (Burn Jones windows) and the Jurassic way to the coach.
