Moderate 10 miles / 16.1 km
We walk from Astbury Mere car park through Astbury and across fields and woodlands on a gradual ascent to Mow Cop, where we'll stop for lunch and a look around. We'll then head back to Astbury Mere via Macclesfield Canal. Dogs welcome, though there are many stiles on the walk and the odd farm animal, so dogs will need to be kept on leads at times. Parts of the walk may be muddy and boggy, so gaters may be required. oh and keep a look out for low flying balls as we cross Astbury Golf Course Lunch required.
We walk from Astbury Mere car park (CW12 4FP - please note: the entrance is at the end of Sandy Lane, though the sat nav may try and take you down Ennerdale Drive). £1 required for all day parking at the Mere (You can also pay using a QR code on the machine via card/PayPal, but may be a faff)
This is a circular walk
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders. You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
