Start time: 9:00
(Estimated finish time: 17:00)
Strenuous 16 miles / 25.8 km
Leader: Rob Jackson
16 miles
Route is over high moorland terrain, some of which is off path and may be boggy. There are no facilities available on the walk. Please bring suitable clothing and sufficient food/ drink supplies for the day.
I expect that the walk will take around 7 to 8 hours.
From the car park, we climb up to Millstone Rocks and walk along the edge to Arnfield and then follow the Ogden Brook to Chew Hurdles and Chew reservoir. We then follow the edge round to Dove Stones and Birchen Clough. From here, we head across the open moor back to Chew reservoir and then up to Black Chew Head. From here we follow The Pennine Way back to Crowden.
Hopefully we will have some great views of the Dark Peak moors and experience their “wildness”.
