Group walks can resume in England from Monday 29 March – coronavirus update
The UK government’s new detailed guidance, published on 23 March, makes it clear that organised outdoor sport and physical activity, including organised walks, will be exempt from gathering limits. We already have all the necessary guidance in place and all walks are to be organised in a Covid-secure way. Travel should be minimised as much as possible, and car-sharing remains off limits for now. See the UK government guidelines.
Advance booking is required for some walks. Where required, it is shown in the walk title.

Thanks to those members and non members who have confirmed their use of this path. Will anyone else who has used all or part it at any time please email Brian at firstname.lastname@example.org and obtain a user evidence form. These will all be collated and sent to SCC in one bundle. See bottom of Footpath news page for more details.
Woking Ramblers is a friendly group offering invigorating walks through stunning countryside in the western half of Surrey and sometimes, West Sussex, east Hampshire or the Chilterns.
Each week, we typically walk 5–7 miles on any weekday morning, and at weekends a mix of similar half-day or all day 10–12 miles—sometimes further.
Guests are encouraged to try a walk or two with no obligation, and enjoy the health benefits of walking. For larger groups we generally have a back-marker, so there's no need to worry about being left behind! Booking no longer required for most walks although some exceptions apply — please check specific walk details.
Experienced members lead walks although newer members are encouraged to lead too, with assistance from experienced leaders available. Members have the opportunity to attend popular free walk-leading courses along with peers from other Surrey Ramblers.
Some members enjoy our special working parties to help keep local footpaths suitable for walking. As well as helping us support the Ramblers mission, they are a lot of fun.
We occasionally arrange walking weekends away and optional social events for members. All members are eligible to receive a quarterly eNewsletter via email.
