š³ Tetbury to Westonbirt Arboretum Walk ā Historic Towns & Hidden Trails š³

š Meeting Point:Ā Old Railyard Car Park, Tetbury, GL8 8EY
š Note:Ā Free but limited parking ā lift sharing encouraged!
š¶āāļø Route Details:
- Distance:Ā 18.6km (11.6 miles)
- Difficulty:Ā Moderate
- Terrain:Ā 70% off-road, 30% paved, with a total climb of 170m
Weāll begin from the historic Old Railyard in Tetbury and climb briefly into the heart of the town, passing beautiful buildings steeped in history. From there, weāll walk alongside the Highgrove EstateāKing Charles' countryside residenceābefore following public footpaths intoĀ Westonbirt Arboretum, where weāll enjoy a diverse selection of trees and possibly stop for lunch (weather and timing permitting).
Note: Weāll remain on public and permissive footpaths, soĀ no entry feeĀ is required. The cafĆ© and ticketed areas areĀ not accessible unless you have an Arboretum membership.
Our return route winds pastĀ Westonbirt SchoolĀ and its golf course, eventually joining the old railway line and cycle path back to Tetbury. After the walk, there will be time to relax at one of Tetburyās many lovely pubs, cafĆ©s, or bakeries.
š„¾ What to Bring:
- Sturdy footwear (some uneven terrain)
- Packed lunch & snacks
- Plenty of water (no refill points en route)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
š Additional Notes:
- Route includes some short steep sections, especially near Tetbury
- Ground conditions should be dry, but sturdy footwear is still advised
- Friendly dogs welcome on a lead

We encourage you to take photos on our walks, but we ask that you do not share photos that include peopleās faces publicly (including Meetup) without their clear permission.
- Occasionally, group photos may be taken during walks. The photographer will always tell you where these will be shared, such as Meetup, the 20s and 30s membersā WhatsApp group, or for promotional purposes on the Gloucestershire Walking Group website.
