Overview

Walk Route:       From PVCP walk down onto the Water of Leith, and along to Spylaw Park,                           with an early stop for a hot drink and a good snack to keep us going.  Then                           through the Colinton Tunnell and continue going down to lower level to look                            at the Weir and new Metal Bridge over the river, photo stop on way back up                          the steps.  After about 1000m we turn sharp left and walk up |                                                                   Knockhilbraehead to Lanark Road, we cross over and down over the bridge turning left along the Union Canal.  We pass approx. 10 bridges and at the 11th (No 7) at Wester Hailes, we walk on to the next metal bridge, and cross over this into Westburn Middlefield housing estate, walking up to the road. Turn right here and about about 500 yards we turn right and walk along the back road passing Baberton Mains Cottages to the Kennels at the end, and then up Donkey Lane to Muirwood Road.  Then turn right and continue passing Muirwood Park and on to the Blossom Cafe at the bottom of Bryce Road for lunch.

Numbers:  This will be limited to 25 and I will take the names of participants that wish to join the walk and have lunch at the end. A waiting list will be added for those extra after that for the walk only.

The Lunch Cost is for a Bloomer Sandwich (a choice of 4) along with Shortbread and Tea or Coffee and gratuity.   As last year, the money should be put into an envelope with your name(s) on it and this will be collected at the finish of the walk.  

Sandwich choices:   a) Ham & Salad             b) egg mayonaise

                                 c) Savoury Cheese and              d) tuna

When making a booking please also confirm your sandwich choice and also for tea or coffee which may be helpful also.

As usual the walk is dependant on weather, so gaiters and poles may be required on the day
