We will cross the Abbotswood Conservation Area then down to Fishlake Meadows where you might spot a bird or two. Then up to Abbotswood Farm where there are a range of delightful (often free range) animals. Next over a couple of fields (maybe claggy) and on to some lovely Braishfield lanes. Lastly through to Crookhill Farm and skirting Hilliers Arboretum (we dont actually enter) then back past the Allotments.
About 2 stiles. Fairly level and gentle ascent.
No toilets, but nearby cafe and Co-op at Abbotswood shops. Bring your own refreshments for a coffee stop.
Free car park at the Abbotswood Sports Ground. This car park is a little bit tricky to find. From the Winchester Road (A3090) take the turning at the traffic lights to Braishfield. This is the Braishfield Road.
At the roundabout, take the first exit into the Abbotswood Estate. After about 20 yards, turn left down Abbotswood Common Road.
Go past the shops with the fish and chip shop on your right and the Co-Op on your left. The road bends round to the right then you come to a T junction.
Turn left on Minchin Road and go past the Abbotswood Care Home on the left.
At the T junction with Cutforth Way, the Sports Ground Field is straight ahead. Turn left and the car park is on the right.
