Overview

We will be walking along the Matley Ridge with it's splendid views across heathland and then diving down into the Pondhead Inclosure where we may find the Charcoal Burners at work and join them for a coffee break. There may well be bluebells here and later we will be heading off to Holmhill and Denny Wood where you can often get some deer galloping off into the distance.

Our route takes us along well established paths and tracks but there may be some lumpy bits and the odd tree root.

Assistance dogs only please.

Please bring your ICE (In Case of Emergency) card with you.

Matley Wood Car Park is just off the Beaulieu Road about 3 miles from Lyndhurst. There is a sign to turn off to the left towards the woods and then you follow round and go down the slope into the dip. There is loads of space there.
