At he heart of the Lake District this is always a very popular destination. Whilst the last time we passed through here, on our way to Hawkshead, there was a lot of water around, today we hope for dryer conditions, but wherever your Walk Leader takes you, you can be sure of superb scenery. With some great walks up onto the fells, or lower down. What you will get is a good day out with lots of refreshment establishments to relax in at the end of the day.
Three walks will be available, with full details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave White
B Walk Leader - Janet Loines - A linear walk of approximately 8 miles and 1250ft of ascent. Starting from Windermere Train Station the walk takes us up to the view point of Orrest Head with fine views of the surrounding hills. The walk continues to Troutbeck Bridge, then passing Town End House (NT), Jenkin Crag and Stagshaw Gardens before reaching Ambleside.
C Walk Leader - Dave Trembath - 6.25 miles with a total ascent of 700ft. Setting off from Ambleside we head northwest to Rydal Hall and on to Rydal Water. After walking around it we pick up the path beside the River Rothay and make our way back to the coach.
