Overview

From the Post Office in Appleton Wiske (parking on Front Street), we follow a footpath along a small beck to Wiske Railway Bridge. We need to negotiate two felled trees along this path but they are passable. From the bridge, we make our way to Whitegates Garden centre for coffee stop (toilets available). We then cross fields and farm land with some cows evident, but not interested, to Picton Grange, From here it depends on ground conditions and the possibility of huge ploughed fields to cross in November, (Will check a few days prior to walk) as to whether we return by the fairly quiet road (2.3miles) back to Appleton Wiske.
