Overview

Starting in Ardington, we head east towards West Hendred and then head up onto the Ridgeway passing through Ginge and a wooded valley. Once on top it is quite exposed to cold prevailing winds, as we walk past Scutchamer Knob, an early Iron Age round barrow. We head south for a circuit of the undulating and attractive downland countryside, relatively bare in winter – but if the sun does come out there are fabulous views. We walk back up to the Ridgeway and then on down though the pristine Lockinge Estate, eventually back to Ardington.
