Overview

From Ashmore, the highest village in Dorset, the walk will encompass Ashmore Wood and Great Morris Close, Stubhampton Bottom, the village of Iwerne Minster, Preston Wood and back along undulating fields and woods of the Cranborne Chase. Although most of the spectacular autumn leaves will have fallen by the time of the walk, Ashmore Wood and the surrounding countryside are beautiful at any time of the year.  Expect some hills (but nothing steep or strenuous) and some significant muddy patches. Sturdy walking shoes/boots with good tread advised as wet leaves under foot may be slippery.
