A circular walk from one of Hertfordshire’s most attractive villages. We will meet outside the Bushel & Strike PH opposite St Mary’s Church (the tallest church in Hertfordshire). We set off from the pub in Mill Street towards the Hinxworth Road taking the footpath across Newnham Hill towards Hinxworth Place, we then bare right towards Bury End Farm along the Ridge Way track before baring east crossing the River Rhee and slowly making our way back to Ashwell past Bluegates Dairy and Ashwell Grange. Ashwell is an interesting place to visit with a long history and its medieval layout, it’s well worth arriving early to explore the village prior to this 6.5 mile walk across the Hertfordshire downlands, let’s hope for good weather.
Please park considerately around the village, there is plenty of roadside parking. Dogs are welcome.
This is a moderate pace walk. We want everyone to enjoy our walks, if you have any concerns about the pace please speak to the walk leader.
Please bring your Ramblers card (if you have one) to help speed up the Ramblers register before we start the walk.
