This walk is for up to 25 people, including the leader.
An away-day walk to the charming cathedral town of Bury St Edmunds, where we’ll hope to see an amazing display of daffodils.
After a look at the medieval ruins in Abbey Gardens we’ll head out of town and down a pleasant bridleway to Nowton Park, where below an impressive avenue of lime trees there are planted over 100,000 daffodils. We’ll have an early lunch in the park then explore the gently rolling countryside beyond, passing an isolated hilltop church and following St Edmund’s Way to the village of Sicklesmere. Here we’ll pause for a drink at the Rushbrooke Arms.
Suitably refreshed, we’ll walk uphill towards Rushbrooke, a settlement of farmworkers’ cottages rebuilt in the 1950s, then make our way back to Bury along quiet lanes, field-edge footpaths and alongside the River Lark. In town we might grab a drink and some food before we head home.
Dogs are welcome on a lead.

DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying a walk if it is fully booked.
