Coach starts at Prestwich at 08.20, picks up in Sedgley Park 08.25, then Chorlton St at 08.50, Heaton Chapel 09.05, Stockport 09.15, Hazel Grove 09.25. (NB: Timings for pick-up points are approximate - please be at the pick-up point in good time)
Toilet stop at Buxton (30p charge - card payment only)
Three led walks:
Long Walk (10.5 miles, leader: Antony)
Linear from Taddington. Waypoints are Taddington, Priestcliffe, High Dale, Monsal Dale, Deep Dale, Sheldon, Magpie Mine, Kirk Dale, Bakewell. There was a very muddy path along Monsal Dale. There are a number of slippy limestone step stiles over walls where we will have to be careful and one busy road crossing. Some sections on quiet roads. 1300 ft ascent Update: Wet and muddy paths - waterproof boots and gaiters/overtrousers are recommended. Cattle may be encountered during the walk. It is possible the last part of the walk will be in dusk/twilight so please bring a torch.
Medium Walk - Moderate (8.5 miles, leader: Ian)
Bakewell Circular: Via The Monsal Trail to Haddon Hall, crossing the river Wye to Lathkill Dale then Alport, through Baltic Wood back to Bakewell. 670 ft ascent
Short Walk - Easy/Moderate (7 miles, leader: Geoff)
Bakewell Circular. River Wye Path to Haddon Barn, Haddon Fields, Conksbury Bridge, Lathkill Dale, Over Haddon and Ditch Cliff. There is a short steep descent into Lathkill Dale and a steep ascent up to Over Haddon. The walk has some stiles.
Coach will leave Bakewell at 5.30pm
The ground may be muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a change of shoes, boot covers or something to clean your boots before getting back on the coach.
