Overview

A lovely, 7.5 mile circular walk across fields and through woodland. Starting in Bayford, it loops around Howe Green, Essendon and Little Berkhamsted. Largely flat apart from a couple of moderate inclines. One stile.

There is road parking between The Bakers Arms pub and the church, although allow extra time in case spaces taken by churchgoers. There is paid parking at the train station half a mile away as a back-up. We will be meeting initially at the station to meet the Great Northern train from Hornsey or Alexandra Palace that gets in at 10.33 before passing The Baker’s Arms pub pub about 15 minutes later. Bring a packed lunch.

For those coming by train there is a 10.05 train from Hornsey station (10.08 from Alexandra Palace), getting into Bayford station for 10.33 where we will meet. Drivers can park on roads near The Bakers Arms pub half a mile away in Bayford itself and we will pass the pub at 10.45/50. (Pub postcode SG13 8PX).
