This year's Mental Health Awareness week has the theme of "Movement: Moving more for your mental health". As we know that improving, or maintaining our mental health, is a key benefit of walking and a common reason why people walk with the Chiltern Young Walkers, we wanted to recognise this week with a series of evening walks from Monday the 13th to Friday the 17th May.
This will be just like any other walk we do, but we hope that by recognising MH Awareness Week with these extra walks we can help to break down any taboos around mental health and raise awareness of the benefits of walking - alone or with a group! So please do come along on one or more of these walks.
Walk number 3 starts from Beaconsfield Train station, so is nice and easy to access by public transport. We'll set off by 19:15 and will be back around 21:00. The walk takes us through the quiet back streets of Beaconsfield and out into the open fields and gently rolling hills north of the town. We'll enjoy golden hour and quiet, atmospheric woodlands before turning south back towards Beaconsfield. We'll no doubt head for a quick mid-week drink at a local pub for those who want to after the walk.
Parking is available at the station (£5.50 evening rate), Warwick Road car park (5 mins walk from station, £3.90 for 3 hours) or for free on Calendon Road/St Michael's Green where there is a cut through to the station but please check the signs very carefully for the restrictions (usually none in the evenings) and park considerately.
Please wear walking boots or good quality trainers (no plimsolls, please), dress for the weather and bring water with you.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
