Overview

A beautiful walk covering both hill and valley, so some sections are fairly steep. There are stiles, some in poor condition. Boots plus waterproofs are recommended. The walk starts in the valley of the River Darwen and rises steadily through woodland to emerge onto open farmland. The views on a clear day are magnificent. After a walk along the ridge the route descends back to the river which is followed upstream back to Witton Park.
