Overview

This walk heads uphill to Frithsden Beeches, but once up there, all the climbing is done.  This walk has fantastic panoramic views. There are horses in the fields on this walk.  After a steady descent we come to Berkhamsted Castle and Berkhamsted's Totem Pole.  Finally the picturesque canal takes us back to the start.

Canal Fields Car Park, Broadwater, Berkhamsted HP4 2AL Parking is free for 4 hours but you still need to obtain a ticket from the machine. This car park can be tricky to find so if coming from Berkhamsted town, after going over the little bridge with green railing over the canal, go about forty feet and immediately turn sharp left into what looks like a small housing estate. Follow the road along and the car park is past the football club on your left next to a small children's play park. (If you miss the turn you will get to the station -you have gone too far)
