Overview

Bixslade has been mined continuously for over 500 years and has been described as "one of the country's finest areas of extractive industrial heritage". A gentle climb up the Bixslade valley along the route of a tramway that served several mines and quarries.  We will pass free mines that are still producing coal and the site of the worst mining tragedy in the forest. There will be some informative explanations along the way. Returning via Wimbury Slade along forest tracks.
