Overview

We shall start at the Scots Pine Cafe and walk into the village of Eddleston and up to the Barony Castle Hotel.  Skirting the building cross the bridge to The Polish Map of Scotland and a coffee break. Walking out of the hotel grounds on a track leading to a woodland and onto the Old Post Road.  The next section of the walk is open field to reach the track down to Darnhall Mains then cross the main road back to the Scots Pine café.

Reaching the Map a bridge over a ravine will be crossed but if this is difficult for anybody a walk round this section can be used.

The walk will start from beside the Scots Pine Café in Eddleston, Scottish Borders (marked as Cottage Bank on the OS map).  Driving north out of Eddleston on the Edinburgh Road (A703) leave the 40 mph zone and on the right is a bungalow and the green and white Scots Pine Café.  Turn right immediately and park in the lane beside the café.  The postcode EH45 8QS applies to several locations to the north of Eddleston so only use it to get to the vicinity of the Scots Pine Café.  The grid reference is NT 244480. The walk will start at 10 am

The leader will be waiting at the Scots Pine and those meeting in Biggar (09:15 at the Corn Exchange) are asked to organise car-sharing.  Anyone driving direct please let leader know in advance with numbers. Contact is 07711 140434
