This is Walk 5 of 5 Ramblers' led walks that are part of the Abingdon Walking Festival. Walks open to all. Non-members welcome. This is a moderate walk along the Thames Path National Trail from Oxford to Abingdon. Leaving the bustle of St Aldates at Folly Bridge this walk passes the famous Salters’ Steamers yard and Head of the River public house, then passes the many Oxford University college’s boat houses and then on to the pretty Iffley lock. The walk becomes more rural as the path reaches the lock at Sandford on Thames and then into quiet open countryside with the chance of seeing nature both on and near the river. Even perhaps a kingfisher if lucky. Passing the Radley College boat house the path gives a view of Nuneham Courtenay house and continues to Abbey Meadow then through the abbey grounds into Abingdon. Please bring snacks and drink for a couple of stops. Vale Walk Leader SN. For more information about the festival go to: https://www.abingdoneventspartnership.co.uk/walking-festival
