Overview

Leaving to the rear of the New Church we take the path under Steel Knotts that leads initially up then down to St Martin's (old) Church in Martindale, we cross the valley floor andย  ascend the flank of Beda Fell beside Winter Crag to the ridge path. We then follow the undulating ridge up to the summit (Beda Head). We continue to follow this path over Bedafell Knott until it splits. Taking the right-hand fork we traverse around the head of Boredale to Boredale Hause. From here we descend into the Boredale Valley, this path starts with a relatively short steep rocky section, becomes a less steep grassy path and later becomes a metalled road. Leaving this road we pick up a path that rises around the base of Place Fellย  before eventually descending close to Sandwick. A short road section takes us to Bridge End where we pick up a path close to the base of Hallin Fell that takes us around to the start point.
