Overview

Pre-registration not required for this walk - just turn up on the day.

A lovely, moderately paced 11.4 mile walk on undulating terrain along woodland paths, fields and parkland offering the additional delights of the historic town of Woburn and Woburn Deer and Safari parks where we may be lucky enough to spot some of the Safari Park animal population. Binoculars if you possess them might help here.

A few sharp, though short, downhill paths in the early stages of the walk. Advisable  to bring walking poles if you regularly use  them.

A couple of stiles. Maybe still mud in a few areas.

Note: Lyme disease has been detected in Woburn Park so long trousers & arm covering advised.

No toilets at Bow Brickhill Station.

Route: From Bow Brickhill we head into Back Wood, then a short stretch on a busy tarmac road before turning off to join Woburn Walk which we will be following to Woburn town and for most of the rest of the day. After lunch we rejoin the path through Woburn Deer and Safari Parks before reaching the final stages of the walk at Aspley Guise Station.

Lunch stop: Woburn Town - Choice of pubs, cafés, picnic areas.

Meet at Bow Brickhill Station at 11.00.

Travel: Euston 09.56 - West Midlands train to Birmingham New Street - changing at Bletchley  (arr 10.31) to 10.45 West Midlands train to Bedford - arr Bow Brickhill at 10.58.

Ticket/Fare: Buy Off-peak Day Return to Aspley Guise.

Finish: Aspley Guise at about 5.50.

Leader: Maeve K 07811 094 646 (on day of walk only).
