A moderate/strenuous 8 mile circular walk on the Bowhill Estate - following the "Lady's Walk" along the Yarrow River then joining the "Duchess' Drive" to pass the ruins of Newark Tower. Climbing up through Black Andrew Wood onto moorland with fantastic views across the Borders. Returning through the mixed woodland of Pernassie hill.
I have graded the walk as strenous as there is a long steady climb through Black Andrew Wood, otherwise the walk is moderate.
Car parking £3 per car (cash or card) in the General's Bridge Car Park, which lies outwith "Bowhill House and Grounds" , so there is no entry fee other than the car park.
Meet at MIBC for 9.15am (note earlier start time) for car share, or at the General's Bridge Car Park, Bowhill (TD7 5ET) for 10.15am to start the walk.
Coffee stop and lunch stop.
Estimated finishing time 3pm plus 1 hour drive back to MIBC.
Please contact the walk leader S. Watson 07981 012665 to join the walk.
