Overview

From Mardale Head, we walk up Gatescarth pass until about a hundred metres from the crossroad (to avoid very wet section), turn left and walk parallel to the fence to summit of Branstree (713m). Then there is a steady descent until the easy climb to Selside Pike (655m). We continue north until we pick up the Old Corpse Road, head west back to road, and back to car park. Good views of Haweswater.
