Slow pace. Starting from bridge in Glenridding. Good paths throughout the walk, no scrambles. Prolonged ascent until we reach Red Tarn at 718m highest lake.
Lunch at tarn surrounded by the flanks of Helvellyn and Swirral Edge. Easy wander up Catstye Cam for those wanting a bit extra (weather dependent). Then all downhill back to Glenridding.
Ascent to Red Tarn is a prolonged ascent, but good path and fine views. Should be manageable for all, including dogs.
Car parks in Glenridding but may be some free parking on roadside at this time of year.
Tea shops and pubs in Glenridding.
The only toilet is in the main car park (charges).
