Hello Everyone
Following the group's holiday on the south coast we're back to our regular Sunday slot with a pleasant walk around the Brewood area taking in mixed terrain of field footpaths (fairly dry on the recon a few days ago😃), a canal towpath stretch passing over Telford's Watling Street aquaduct, and some road walking to stitch the whole route together. Pretty much flat throughout with just one stile.
As ever, you're welcome to join us. It'd be great if you could let us know beforehand if you're new to the group. Cheers.
Registration: 09.30. Walk start: 09.45. Walk Leader: Audrey (07981 873047)
Please note there are no facilities at the start or on the walk itself. However, there are toilets on Sandy Lane, Brewood, but on double yellow lines. Be quick!
Post walk refreshments at our start point The Bridge Inn, who have kindly allowed Audrey and ourselves to park here. ⚠️Limited spaces so car share if you can please.
DIrections: primarily for our own members or anyone arriving via the A5 which is a couple of miles north of the start. Satnav ideal if you have it or as below if not, this bring the least complicated option.
Our start point is located at the western end of Brewood village alongside the canal.
From your home location to the A5 where continue west, over the M6 at Junction 12, and onwards for 1 mile to Gailey Island and the A449. Straight over here, still A5, and proceed for 0.5 mile to turn left into Clay Gates Road signed for Brewood.
Follow the course of the road for 1.5 miles without deviation and though the sharp bends to enter the outskirts of Brewood. Continue on the same road (Vicarage Road) until the T-junction with Sandy Lane. Turn right here signed for the village centre and proceed for 0.3 miles, straight through, direction Bishops Wood, until you reach The Bridge Inn on your right, just before the canal bridge (photo above).
Pass the pub and immediately turn right before the bridge into the car park. Park at the far end please, thank you.
