Given the flat area many fields are prone to poor drainage and therefore can be muddy so most of the route is on hard tracks, and roads with only some fieldwalking.
Need comfortable boots for road walking, and gaiters for the muddy, wet field sections.
We follow several minor roads through Caldicot and Rogiet so beware any local traffic on these sections.
We should pass along the coastal path by Rogiet Range, and this is the expected 8.5-mile version. However, if warning flags show and access is prohibited then we must use a longer detour; this is the 10-mile version.
