Meet next to the war memorial at the main entrance to Victoria Park in Calverley.
Parking on the main road near the park entrance is not recommended as cars are often clipped by passing traffic. The best place to park is usually Victoria Street which is a 5 minute walk from the war memorial. It's a residential street which runs along the back of Victoria Park.
From the park we will head to Calverley Cutting which takes us quite sharply downhill to the canal on a broad footpath through woodland. After having a quick look at the canal from a bridge above it, we retrace our steps slightly and then walk along a winding path through the woods and back up to the main road.
Bring a torch.
It can be muddy in the woods. Walking boots are recommended.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
Post-walk refreshments at The Thornhill if anyone fancies that.
