In late summer and early autumn, walkers can expect to see swathes of purple heather sweeping up to the edge of the forestry plantations on the ridges of Cannock Chase. This is our smallest mainland AONB but a walk across the open heathland and woodland provides lots of variety.
If you would like to car share, we are meeting at Lady Byron Lane, Knowle (Old Warwick Road) Solihull B93 9AG (near J5 of the M42) for a departure time of 9:00 am. Lifts are subject to availability. This is a round trip of approx. 68 miles and a voluntary donation of £8 is considered to be a reasonable contribution towards the costs incurred by the driver.
Walk starts from the Cannock chase visitors centre.
