This is the second of our Capital Ring walks. There is no obligation to do all of them - you can pick and choose the ones that you fancy…
We will meet at 11am outside Grove Park Station. To reach the station you can get a 261 bus from Bromley South – or there are plenty of trains from London – for example from London Bridge to Grove Park is under 20 minutes. The later start time and walk length hopefully helps with the travel
We start by walking along a footpath called Railway Children Walk 1 – named after E. Nesbitt who lived nearby. On a darker note we then cross the main rail line into London – where there was a rail crash in 1967 killing 49 people. We then walk through remnants of the Great North Wood before heading into Beckenham Place Park – where there are toilets, coffee and food options. If we are lucky there may also be a food market
The remainder of the walk is through suburban south London with pockets a of green until we eventually reach Crystal Palace Park – with a lake, dinosaurs and a gorilla. Again there is often a food market on. We walk around the park until we reach Crystal Palace station. There are then 2 options – a bus to Bromley (on a good day 25 minutes) or a train to London (25 minutes to London Bridge)
This is a no dog walk
