Starting from where we finished in September, Wembley Park Underground Station, we omit a rather bland section of the Ring, through streets of semi detached houses, and go a shorter way to the CAPITAL RING, cutting out a steep climb and half a mile.
Once on the Ring we soon come to the Brent Reservoir, near the end of the official Section 10 of the CAPITAL RING. There are lots of places to see on the way
- Hendon Park, a pleasant, open green space with plenty of benches dotted about,
- Brent Park, more a wide path following the River Brent, which takes us to Decoy Lake (the surrounding wood is known as Decoy Wood).
- the Mutton Brook, a tributary of the River Brent.
- after crossing the Finchley Road look out for the just visible statue "La Deliverance" aka The Naked Lady.
- Northway Gardens, a long narrow park that has been sensibly landscaped.
- Lyttelton Playing Fields (part of Hampstead Garden Suburb) and on to some interesting residential roads, which form part of the Garden Suburb, eventually leading to East Finchley Station. Note the 10 feet tall figure of the Archer, by Eric Aumonier, representing Finchley's ancient contact with hunting.
- soon we are passing through Cherry Tree Wood, followed by Highgate and Queen's Wood, all part of the ancient forest of Middlesex, and then Priory Gardens, which leads straight ahead to Highgate Tube, and the end of the walk.
