Historically known as Kirkby in Cartmel this is the location of the 12th Century Cartmel Priory. However Cartmel is not the easiest place to get a coach into, but we hope tp park up by the racecourse. We will have to wait and see just what today's walk leaders offer us.
Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave Scowcroft - Around 12 miles with 1640ft of ascent. Taking in Hampsfell, High Newton, Seatle, Bigland Tarn and Grassgarth Heights. A map of this walk is available to view on the Social Media page.
B Walk Leader - Janet Loines - A linear walk of aproximately 9 miles and 1400ft of ascent. Starting from Grange -Over-Sands the walk heads up through Eggerslack Wood to the Hospice on Hampsfell. Decending south towards Allithwaite, then over to How Barrow before making our way to Cartmel.
C Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - Just 6.5 miles with 708ft of ascent. We start by crossing Cartmel Park to the hamlet of Hill, then turn north and west to Speel Bank before heading back to Cartmel via Burns Farm and Long Scar.
