We are the Winchester Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We walk north and eastwards on the South Downs Way, then divert along the quiet (hopefully!) Longwood Dean Lane, and wind our way through various lovely woodland and field paths back up to Cheesefoot Head
Some roughish tracks, poles might be useful, slightly undulating. Small bits of undergrowth to be negotiated. Great individual care needs to be taken along a short bit of faster road, and also twice crossing a different, sometimes busy, road.
If approaching from the Winchester direction on the A272, the car park is on the left hand side of the road. There is a brown finger post on the opposite side of the road. There is sometimes (not always!) a coffee van there.
