Walking the upper half of the iconic Itchen Way, from the Cathedral at Winchester to the river source Cheriton. This walk along a world class chalk river makes for a wonderful day out, packed with natural and historic interest.
This is the second of two walks, the first from the river's mouth up to Winchester on Monday 4 August, allowing for a complete walk of the Itchen Way.
This will be a linear walk, aiming to catch the 4.15pm #67 bus back from Cheriton to Winchester (changing at Alresford for the #64)
There are very limited facilities along the way, so you will need to bring your own water, a flask, snacks and a packed lunch. There are no public toilets, but we will be passing a couple of pubs around the half way point which may let you use their facilities.
