This is an 11.5 mile walk, up hill and down dale starting from Chilham, with close to 1400 foot of ascent, so it is a good one to test your fitness levels. However the reward for your efforts are the delightful views throughout this wonderful yomp in the East Kent undulating countryside.
Outward on the North Downs Way, we proceed along Mountain Street, but rest assured, there are definitely no mountains in the Garden of England. We briefly skirt the edge of King's Wood, to then descend to the Jane Austen inspired Godmersham Park, which is a wonderful place to tarry and enjoy the landscape.
After crossing the A28, it is then onward and upward, as we climb steadily to the quaint and isolated Crundale church, we will however pause for breath at times whilst enjoying the good views on this stretch of the route. On leaving the church, we join the Stour Valley Walk, crossing through open countryside and woodland, whilst also passing Catha's Seat on the return leg of this delightful circuit.
There will be the usual picnic snack en route, whilst the favoured pub stop in the latter stages is the Woolpack Inn on our return to Chilham.
