Distance - 8 miles
Meeting Place - Piccadilly station at 09.20 to catch the 09.31 train to Chinley.
Start of Walk -10.10 after the arrival of the train from Piccadilly due 10.07. The leader will meet the party at Chinley station.
Car Parking - There is a station car park at Chinley for rail users or roadside parking in Chinley.
Walk Route - Chinley station, Cracken Edge, Whiterakes, Higher Hills Cottage, Radio Mast, Moor Lodge, Shedyard Clough, Dolly Lane, Green Head, Ancoats, Stubbins, Chinley station.
Most of the ascent comes early in the walk on the climb up to Cracken Edge. There is also one quite slippery descent at Shedyard Clough.
Expected time back in Chinley - no later than 14.30 in time for the 14.57 return train. The next train is due at 15.55.
Train ticket - return to Chinley (if you have a GM concession card this can be from Strines).
Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train, particularly the return trains.
Walking boots and clothes (waterproof anorak in wet weather conditions) are essential
To bring lunch and non alcoholic drinks.
