Overview

From Oughtibridge Bridge we will walk by the river and up a steep hill with steps before crossing the railway bridge, then on paths and roads to the start of Birley Edge. We will walk leisurely up the mainly gentle slopes to the Birley stone. We continue along the edge to a stile (with an optional ascent and stile) to St Helena view point then descend back to the lower stile). We all then descend to a good path and meander through Wharncliffe woods back to Oughtibridge.

Options are  then to sit on benches in the park, go to cafe or pub or straight to bus stop. The toilets will be open if there is a caretaker working, otherwise if anyone has a radar key we can use the disabled toilet.

2 Stiles on walk (3 with extension)
