From our start point we will take the footpath between the school and children’s playground, passing the village allotment onto Wembury House. Wembury House was one of the grandest Manor Houses in its time. Continuing on a country lane to join the SWCP with magnificent views of the River Yealm, Noss Mayo / Newton Ferrers in one direction and the great mew stone the other way. Onto High Cliff, prior to turning right in front of St Weburgh’s church, a historic, grade I listed building, dating back to the 14th century, you will view the Old Mill Cafe; a mill has existed at this Wembury location since the 12th century. The existing building is over 150 years old. We will walk around the perimeter of the church, up some steps, followed by a short, steep climb to the top of the field. The footpath passes South Barton Farm before crossing diagonally by Wembury House, re-tracing our steps to Barton Close. At the end of the walk there is an option to have a drink in the Odd Wheel public house.
