Overview

A linear walk of about four miles, from Charlton to Woolwich the long way round.  A walk rich in maritime and military history. engineering and geology as well as fine green spaces, including a stretch of working riverside, the Thames Barrier, Gilbert's Pit in Hanging Wood and the Royal Artillery Barracks on Woolwich Common.  Some ups and downs and steps.  A joint walk with Blackheath Ramblers which should finish by about 13.30.
