We will meet in the Balmaha Car Park at 9:45am, to catch the 10:03am bus into Drymen, where we will start our walk from The Square.
We will then head along Station Road (B858), to the gate entrance and pick up the route which follows a section of the West Highland Way (WHW), to Balmaha via Garadhban Forest (part of the extensive Queen Elizabeth Forest Park), and Conic Hill (361m).
This is a nice route, on good forest tracks, undulating paths and moorland trails. We will find a nice spot for a tea break before heading off again. Continuing on our wanders we will cross the Burn of Mar where the path then climbs slightly steeply uphill as you head along the hillside, which we will take at a gentle steady pace, hoping for stunning views over Loch Lomond and surrounding hills as we reach the top of the hill, where we will have our lunch stop.
We will then descend back down into Balmaha, via the stone pathed steps, where we will end the route with a visit to the statue of Tom Weir on the lochside, before returning back to the car park.
We will have the option for a well deserved refreshment and cake at the Oak Tree Inn before returning home.
