This walk takes in a section of the Churnet valley; includes the exquisite woodlands of Consall and Coombes Valley, and visits the village of Ipstones, before returning to Froghall Wharf. We should see many flowers, and for the bird enthusiasts, the area is good for Redstarts, Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, to name but a few. Coombes Valley in particular, is a beautiful haven of tranquility, broken only by birdsong.
Bring a packed lunch.
The group does not stop at cafes or pubs for lunch, and you should bring enough food and drinks with you to last the whole walk. We usually stop for a coffee break an hour or so into the walk, and stop for packed lunch around 1230-1300 although weather and a suitable location will affect both timings.
