Please note this hike is part of a weekend away - if you are local and wish to join, please contact Beth to let her know beforehand as if parking is difficult on the day we might shift the start point and walk slightly so she will need a means to contact you.
Walk start time: 10:15 (est finish time: 12:00)
Distance: 3.6 miles (5.8 km)
Difficulty: Leisurely (Ascent: 680ft/200m)
Walk Leader: Beth (07956242703)
As part of our weekend away in the Peak District we will be offering a final optional hike to see one of the gems of the Peak District before heading back home - Lud's Church.
A natural chasm hidden in a wooded hilltop, this atmospheric moss-covered chasm was the site of secret places of worship in the 15th Century. When you wander through the chasm you'll be struck with its mystery and history, amplified by the gentle dripping of water through the moss.
The walk is mostly easy with one short uphill section to reach the chasm and a small scramble to get in and out of the chasm. Please wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather and bring water.
We'll aim to park at the car park at Gradbach Car Park (SK17 0SU - please put Grabbach car park into Google maps). Hopefully as it is a Monday morning outside of school holidays the car park will have plenty of space, but if not we will drive round to an alternative spot and do the hike from a different direction.
