From Danebridge we walk east along good paths towards Gradbach and then across Black Brook and up Gradbach Hill with views over Black Brook to Roach End. We then descend across the brook and up to Roach End (possible ice cream van!). Then along the ridge back to Danebridge past the Hanging Rock and a steep path and steps down to the river. Risk assessment: River valley and moorland walking with a few stiles. Possible livestock in some places. Some rough ground.

Free roadside parking beyond the Ship Inn, Wincle (after yellow lines), on Barlow Hill, near Wincle Brewery.
